Description
Each fireplace mantel, most from the mid 1800's, tells a unique story, and is sure to be the focal piece of any room.
This large Gothic Mantel with acanthus leaf carving, was
obtained from The Ruskin Estate, located along the Thames, near Wargrave outside London.
John Ruskin, an English author and art critic was born in London to wealthy importers of sherry.
He was friends with Minton Morris and Gertrude Jekyl.
One of his infamous quotes:
"A little thought and a little kindness are often worth more than a great deal of money."
Circa 1850
